Quality1 / QualityManager
Web system for managing quality management tools.
Product context
QualityManager helps companies carry out quality studies using APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC and MSA. The application serves multiple clients and combines older functionality with evolving features.
My role and responsibilities
For more than four years, I worked on system maintenance, modernization and operations. My work covered code, testing, environments and the protection of client data.
- Upgrade Laravel from 8 to 13 and PHP from 7 to 8.3, resolving compatibility issues.
- Migrate Blade pages to Vue.js and web routes to APIs.
- Set up staging, backups and deployments with GitHub Actions.
- Configure queues, SMTP, Supervisor, Apache/Nginx, SSL and firewall rules; handle file encryption and sessions.
Main challenges
- Evolve a legacy application without interrupting ongoing quality studies.
- Reduce study loading times and deliver notices to users.
- Maintain data isolation between clients during changes.
Implemented solutions
- I implemented Redis caching for studies and real-time notices with Pusher.
- I integrated AI to assist with completing and validating studies.
- I used staging and testing to support gradual interface and API migrations.
Technical decisions and reasoning
- Migrating in stages allowed the application to be modernized while legacy functionality remained under maintenance.
- Automating deployments helped establish a repeatable delivery process across staging and production.
Results
- Caching helped studies load faster without requiring a complete application rewrite.
- Parts of the interface moved to Vue.js, and the product gained notices and AI assistance for completing studies.
- Staging and automated deployments became part of the delivery process.
